Properties and stability
1. Also known as tetraethoxymethane. Colorless ether-like odor liquid. Boiling point 159℃. Relative density 0.9197 g/ml, flash point -24°C (52°C). Refractive index 1.3935. Easily soluble in ethanol and ether. Reacts with ammonia to form guanidine and ethanol; reacts with Grignard reagent (RMgX) to form orthoester [RC(OC2H5)3].
2.This product has low toxicity and has a strong irritating effect on the respiratory tract and eyes. The maximum allowable concentration in the air850mg/m3. To prevent dust from flying at the production site, operators should wear protective equipment.
Storage method
1. This product should be sealed and stored in a cool and dark place.
