NIAX* Catalyst LC-5630 is a unique metal-based delayed gel catalyst specifically designed for use in mechanical froth foams. Mechanical foam technology utilizes a high shear mechanical mixer to disperse the blended gas into the polyurethane system to prepare the backing material. The density of polyurethane foam produced without the addition of physical blowing agents is typically 290-320 KG/M3. The addition of small amounts of water can reduce the density to 190-225 KG/M3. Catalyst KST-100NPF is a liquid, low odor, water-soluble tertiary amine compound specifically designed for use in the manufacture of polyurethane flexible foams. Compared to conventional polyester foam catalysts with odor (e.g. N-methylmorpholine, N-ethylmorpholine or dimethyl), NIAX catalyst KST-100NPF has less residual odor after foaming.

Performance and characteristics

Although KST-100NPF is used for hair blowing reactions, it also promotes gelation reactions, so the concentration of typical cross-linking catalysts (e.g. DB or DM 16D) is reduced when compared to N-methylmorpholine or N-ethylmorpholine.

The compatibility with typical polyester silicone surface agents is excellent, so it is easy to prepare clear and stable premixes with fairly low viscosity.

Used as a primary catalyst in the production of polyester flexible foams and also in laminating and die-cutting applications.
