Properties and stability
Colorless and transparent liquid with a special smell. It decomposes slowly in moist air and is toxic if inhaled. Boiling point 159℃. Relative density 0.9207. Refractive index 1.3853. It is easily hydrolyzed and releases ethanol to form the condensation product of ethylsilanetriol. Reacting with organic metal compounds, the ethoxy group in the Si-OC2H5 bond in the molecule can be replaced by the corresponding organic group.

Synthesis method
It can be prepared by the reaction of ethyltrichlorosilane and absolute ethanol, or by the reaction of tetraethoxysilane and ethylmagnesium bromide.
Purpose
It is used to synthesize silicone intermediates and high molecular polymers, and can also be used as a cross-linking agent for room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber.
